It’s been literally YEARS since I changed the theme here on Star-Girl.
The last theme was super girly, with lots of stars (no surprise there!) and lots of bright pinks and purples. I’m more into simple themes now, with lots of teal and white, so there’s no surprise there that that’s what I’ve gone for this time around!
This theme is called “Norge”, and it’s a premium theme from Envato. I picked it because I wanted something that was easy to use and customise, and this one fits the bill on both counts. The simpler the theme, the harder it is to break or for things to suddenly behave in unexpected ways, and it’s important to me that this website is easy to update and maintain because I use it purely for writing when inspiration hits. It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated because it’s all about the words. If you spot anything that doesn’t look quite right or is a bit broken, just let me know and I’ll fix it – it’s still a work in progress but it should be pretty much fixed up now!
I’ve also updated the sidebar because my Twitter plugin wasn’t working, and somehow I’d never even got around to adding my Instagram, so there was lots of updating to do! If you’d like to follow me, I’m @madebyjenni on both Twitter and Instagram, and I upload photos and tweets pretty much every day.
Along with the design refresh, I’m also overhauling the content. I’ve updated and edited some of the old posts so that they flowed a bit better and it’s clearer what they’re about and where they fit into the grand scheme of things. Since I started my own business last year, and it’s a lot more hands-off than it was now all the groundwork is done, I’m going to be able to blog here a lot more frequently, with lifestyle-type posts that don’t really have a place on my other websites. It’s going to be about all kinds of things, not just me!
