The best way to build up a relationship with another Sim is to talk until the relationship is at about 30. Compliment until 60. Hug until 100. If possible, do not fall in love - it can bring down the social motive when jealousy occurs. Just make friends and send them on their way.

Don't let your Sim kiss another Sim in the same room as someone your Sim loves. They will get jealous, and before you know it, relationships will be hitting rock bottom. It is okay to do it in a different room however!

Invite your friends over and talk to them regularly, so their relationship doesn't drop too much. You should start inviting them over more when the relationship drops to about 70.

Be careful when making decisions about asking people to move in with you. It's especially difficult for beginners to control lots of Sims at once - hey I have problems with 3!

Don't kiss another Sim when you've only just met them. Keep talking about interests, as Sims seem to prefer this topic to any other, and after a while use friendly hugs and jokes (entertain).

Make sure there is food out when you invite Sims over. A good tip is to greet your friend at the door, talk to them for a while, then go in the garden a grab a previously made burger. Sit outside and eat. Your neighbour will probably follow suit, and then you are increasing your hunger and comfort bars as well as social.
