*sigh*
I love my new timetable. I just wish it started now and I didn't have an exam at 9 am on Saturday morning :S If only I could find out which genius set that up :hmm: The exam is on language and context, which in theory shouldn't be too hard as I'm familiar with it from two years ago. It's just distinguishing between things like homonymy, homophony and homography which is difficult to remember. I think I've got it now though. My timetable looks like this. Mondays and Fridays off every other week, and Wednesdays off in the other weeks. Lovely :) I'm getting old, if I sit in the same position for more than a few minutes I get all kinds of aches and pains. For example, my foot was hurting until I moved it a couple of seconds ago, and now my back is aching. I know when I get into bed that my front will start hurting, from past experiments this morning and this afternoon. I'm not enitrely sure why. Maybe it's my body complaining that I haven't actually been out much except to go to the gym and go shopping. In other wildly exciting news, I've been mocked for using Microsoft One Note. I can't help it, it's the funky checkboxes and the ruled lines and the lack of a 'save' button that draws me to it. Plus the fact that I'm the world's most notorious list maker, and if I have no reason to make a list, I will make an excuse to create one. And that's my wildly exciting life on a plate. Maybe when exams are over and I actually start going out again, I will be back in the days of interesting things to blog about. At the moment I am surfing pro-anorexia sites with a kind of sick, perverted fascination and watching 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks'. I never realised before what an incredibly dirty film it is, there are phallic symbols all over the place. Or maybe it's just me. Well, I'm off to bed now to read the wild feminist rant also known as 'Man Made Language', which appeals to both my bitchy and geeky-linguist sides. Plus, I like to think that it counts as revision. 75
Ha!!!! HA!!!!!! Went to sign up for Selected American Novels seminar and noticed the coursework essays for The Contemporary American Novel have been marked (this makes me sound like a wannabe-American, it's just a long story why I signed up for two American Lit. modules...)....anyway.... I got a 75! Which is a first!! *dances* Although he did comment on me being wayyy over the word count (I was about 150 words over the maximum), which he totally didn't pick up on last time. Hmmm. But word counts are stupid anyway. Heh. I was really worried about that essay as well, because I thought I'd chosen he wrong question and messed it all up. Much love to Em for reading it for me and offering suggestions  Now I just want to go around telling everybody, except there isn't really anyone to tell...Grrr. Ha! 75! :)

Stress and Pigs
Ugh..stress. Yesterday was terrible, I kept having stupid arguments with people, I was really stressed about my exam this morning and my parents phoned up to tell me that they aren't speaking to me because my phone bill was £268. Then my mum suggested I find a way of paying it off, which is not going to happen because I am already £200 into my overdraft. But it's my own fault for buying Andy's train ticket and spending £30 on underwear. But now my exam's over, Nika and Andy are talking to me, I've having nearly the whole weekend off and it's all nice and sunny outside. ![]() See? Not really January-in-England type weather :P
My exam wasn't actually that bad, although I only wrote about half as much as Nikki (think her handwriting is pretty big though) and I wrote a whole essay on the killing of a pig :hmm: Yeah, let's just forget about that. I have 1 exam left now :) I'm so tempted to walk around campus taking random photos with my camera, but considering it's so sunny it's deceptively cold. And it's nearly lunchtime. So I'm going to start 'revision' for language and context, and then eat  I'm going to do a bumper return of comments sometime after my exam next week

Feels like ages
Feels like forever since I last blogged, even though it's only been a week. There are some incredibly annoying people shouting and laughing outside the window of the room below mine. Since they are standing directly underneath the window, I'm tempted to throw something at them, which would land directly on their heads. Unfortunately, the only things I could use are Jaffa cakes and water, neither of which would be very effective. I may have to buy something for future use. Ok, evil bitch rant over, what have I been up to? I have lots of 'free' time at the moment since it's exam period. I had my MadEvil exam on Thursday, which I didn't think went too badly until I read the answers that he put up on the Net today. Hmmm. He seems very pedantic, but I'll see what happens. I don't actually get the results back until the week beginning February 10th I think. Friday I have an exam (The Contemporary American Novel), and I'm in the middle of making/typing up notes and reading through. I'm a little behind schedule since I went to the gym with Jenni and Livie (it really didn't feel like an hour and a half) and I'm been distracted by the Internet.. Oh well. Then the Saturday after I have a Language and Context exam. Then, in theory, I have a week off so we'll see what happens. Andy came to stay on Friday night, and was supposed to leave on Sunday but actually left on Monday afternoon, so he missed a day of school. I still feel bad about that  He's coming again at half term  Found out today that my dream house has structural problems and we can't buy it :grr: So it's back to the joys of house hunting for us again :hmm: I'm going on a kind of mini hiatus because of my exams, so I will probably be blogging at random (if at all) over the next week and a half. Then I'm going to spend my time off after exams working really hard on the site and my other project, and hopefully get back into the 'Internet world' again :)

Back at Uni
I moved back into my uni room yesterday. Surprisingly, it took less than 3 hours to unpack my entire room and have everything how it was (yes, I'm a freak like that). I just need some pins to put everything back up on my notice board, and I'm done. Me being me though, I've brought two left boots, and not the two right ones :grr: Maybe I'll just cut off my right leg or something. I haven't seen all my friends yet, but it was nice chatting to the people I did see, although I know so many people overall in my life now that I keep forgetting that some exist, which is rather worrying. Last night we went shopping just before the shops closed (damn Sunday early closing), and then my dad and Lara left and I went to dinner with Nika. Then we proceeded to play The Sims 2 until 1 am after laughing at Tom for going to bed at 8:30. You wouldn't think that it's a university....more like a home for the mad elderly. Today I have a revision lecture (eeep!), then I'm going shopping with Nika to buy more stuff I forgot. Then I have a drama workshop, which I remembered last night and nearly had a heart attack...until I found out that I'm not acting in it at all. So I have 2 hours this afternoon of watching other people rehearse and perform. Lazy me is thinking 'Yay!', whilst active me is thinking 'I could really use that time for revision...' My first exam is on Thursday and I have done absolutely no revision, because it is MadEvil Studies, and I have had 2 essays to write (well that's my excuse anyway). My essays are due in tomorrow and Wednesday, and I need to work like a crazy woman on crack to get them in on time. Why I always leave things this late, I have no idea. I start off well and then get complacent. But my essays hopefully don't need too much work before they can be handed in. Tom is supposed to be visiting me sometime this week, either tomorrow or Wednesday I think, and Andy is coming to stay for the weekend on Friday. I love visitors. I just wish I didn't have exams. Evil evil evil. Still, this time last year I had A level exams, which I was shitting myself about (although I had actually prepared for those), so I guess I should see this as a year off. I just need to get 40% overall this year, and it doesn't count towards my degree. However, I also have to pass every module, and with crappy Drama marking and MadEvil Studies being what it is, it's gonna be tough work. Right, I have to leave for my lecture very soon so I will blog again soon

Computers
I wasted most of yesterday, and a lot of today, on the computer. On the plus side, I now have two perfectly working, fully defragged, scanned, cleaned and updated computers. I just need my dad to get back with Norton Internet Security 2006 and I'm all done. I've deleted lots of useless files on my PC, and organised about 1,100 songs on my laptop, organised all my photos and college work, and neatened up the desktops on both my laptop and the PC. Plus I installed my new digital camera software, transferred photos and videos to my laptop, and updated and charged my ipod. I feel kind of accomplished now. I need to work on my stuff for uni though, as much as I would love to spend some time working on my sites :( But exams and coursework call me... 141 words spoken by Jenni @ 12:20 PM

Psycho Coach Driver
I haven't blogged since last year, so I have lots to catch up on :P First of all, I hope every one had a great Christmas and is enjoying the new year - I know I am, which is surprising since New Year's Eve and Day are my least favourite times of the whole year. So what have I been up to? Well, Christmas I spent at home with family, opening presents, eating chocolate etc. I also picked up Zelda (Wind Waker) again, because it's kind of a tradition to start a console game with my sister at around Christmas. One horrible thing happened on Christmas Day - I bought a kitty selection box for Fuzz, and opened it for her. Inside was a packet of fish complete with heads and eyeballs. Just the thing you want to open on Christmas Day with your bare hands when you're half asleep and not expecting it. I freaked out so much lol. On the 28th I got the coach down to London and met up with Nika and Andy *cough* Yes...I guess most people who know about Andy will be surprised by that and probably be wanting to know more. But that's all I'm saying :P I stayed with Andy and then went to Nika's. We met up with Rich (who I've met once before) and Will, and we had a fantastic time. We're planning 'Cruellest Intentions', and it's going to be hilarious. If the film works out well, I'll upload it for everyone to see :P So I got back today...eventually. I got the coach to London because the train cost £75 compared to £25 for the coach, and because I'm a pussy and hate travelling on my own. Weirdly enough, for the third time in a row, the journey was with the same driver on the way there...Due to the traffic, I arrived almost an hour late. But it wasn't as bad as the way back, which deserves a title all of its very own *cue scary music* The Tale of the Psycho Coach Driver The coach was delayed, which annoyed me, and I didn't get on until 12:30 (it was due at 12). Then Mr. Psycho Driver gets on... Herr Psycho Driver: (in a fascist dictator voice) I can smell chips! Who's got chips?! At this point I was considering leaving the coach because a) I was worried about putting my life in the hands of a Nazi coach driver and b) it would have been quicker to walk the 200 miles home, but I was too scared to walk past him so I quietly and discreetly got my mini Pringles out and hoped for the best. [I must just interrupt my story here to add that my sister has just pulled my dad into the room. Which doesn't sound strange until you know that he's on Pom's lead and my sister has just made him sit and shake 'paws'.] So anyway, I manage to get away with eating. By this point, the coach driver is finally ready to leave and the coach which was delayed from 12 until 12:30 has now been delayed another 20 minutes because of the chips fiasco. We drive solidly and as it's Bank holiday the roads are dead, which means we're making fairly good time. Until the announcement... Herr Psycho Driver: Right, we're going to stop at this service station (insert random bullshit about drivers legally having to stop which never happened on the way to London but is probably some of that stuff written in small print on contracts that nobody ever reads) for 30 minutes. Total time of delay so far: 1 hour 20 minutes. We get on the coach again, and continue driving. The coach is scheduled to make 3 stops: Manchester Airport, Stockport, and Manchester, in that order. Herr Psycho Driver: Okay, who's going to Stockport? Aside from the fact that the airport is actually in Stockport you stupid fucker, did it not occur to you that you should perhaps not drive nearly 200 miles with a coachload of passengers and then tell them you have no idea where the hell their destination is?!?!? So we pile off, get our stuff, load it into the other coach, and then get on. And travel the 10-15 minutes or so to Stockport in perfect silence and in optimum time, with a coach driver who seemed...normal? Original Departure Time: 12:00. Actual Departure Time: 12:50. And the moral of the story? Smurfs taste fruity. And with that little nugget of information, I'll leave you to join hands and sing songs about toadstools. Back | Forward Advertised |
